Microsoft in itself have a history of creating great products with exciting new features every-time. And we can gladly say the Microsoft is Innovative.Now what about Internet Explorer , The web browsing giant. What about trying Internet Explorer versions 6, 7, 8, and 9 simultaneously on a single machine. ? Sounds impossible..

NO!!!! It Isnt . There are fews ways you can do that. But the best one Would be using Windows XP mode in Windows 7.

Windows XP Mode is supported on a Windows PC running Windows 7 Professional, Enterprise, or Ultimate edition. (Windows XP Mode is an optional downloaded feature of Windows 7 Professional, Enterprise, and Ultimate editions that provides you a pre-installed image of Windows XP SP3 that you run using Windows Virtual PC. A recent update allows Windows XP Mode to run on a CPU without hardware virtualization.)

Sounds Interesting? This linked document provides detailed instructions for setting up a Windows XP Mode virtual machine and then copying it to create two additional XP Mode virtual machines and configuring them to run IE7 and IE8.

Hide your data inside the notepad

you all come across a variety of software(s) to hide your data. i earlier mentioned to make your own folder lock . In your daily life, you have to secure most of your confidential details like your account passwords and many other passwords or codes . Just use a simple DOS command to hide your data in a simple text file . Plus point is no one will ever suspect that.

Just follow these steps :-

a) open command prompt in your system.

b) reach at your preferred place in your system(i mean at the preferred location/drive/folder…hope you know how to reach).

c) Now write following command

notepad gaurav.txt:hidden

NOTE: here gaurav is name of file (write your own).

d) A notepad window will pop-out , it will ask you to create that file ,create that.

e) enter your text/passwords/secret codes. press ctrl+S to save it; and then close that file.

f)Now if you notice the size of that file will be shown as 0 bytes. And when you open that …..what you will find..nothing !!….you have done it.

NOTE: To recover your text back just type the above command at the same location in the DOS once again.

(works in windows xp,windows vista ,window 7 )

Lock folders with just a notepad !

ok..can a notepad lock our folders…well i want to tell…YES it can.

(tested in windows 7,vista and xp)

Here are some simple steps which will help you to design your own folder lock in hardly 2 mnutes.

1. Just create a text file. rename it as folderlock.

2. Edit it(by right clicking on that) and now copy the below code in that.

3. Save it with .bat extension which is a batch file.

4. Congo! u have done it.

Now just double click on that it will make a new folder with name locker(at the same place). Put your stuff in that folder and double click on that.it will ask u for y or n.

Hit y and locked your stuff.

AND YES PUT THIS BATCH FILE AT ANY PLACE LIKE PENDRIVES OR WHERE U THINK IS SAFE.

Now the problem arises how to unlock it.

its a cakewalk. ouble click your batch file.hit ‘y’ again and your folder is visible.

(sometimes it doe not work at desktop. So try at other places)

Microsoft sets records with year-end patch release

Microsoft is ending 2010 by setting new records in monthly bulletins, yearly bulletins, and total patched vulnerabilities. More importantly, the software giant has patched the fourth and final vulnerability related to Stuxnet, and the Internet Explorer vulnerability that was disclosed last month.
Microsoft has released 106 security bulletins this year. Looking at the total number of vulnerabilities fixed, 2010 will end on a high note, with 261 patches smashing last year’s record of 170.
“The most notable patch this month fixes the fourth zero-day vulnerability used by Stuxnet,” said Joshua Talbot, security intelligence manager at Symantec’s Security Response. “The Task Scheduler issue allows a regular user to schedule a task that will run with elevated privileges, allowing the newly created task full access to the system,” he added. “This could lead to a complete compromise of the affected computer. Symantec has also seen two additional threats recently begin leveraging this vulnerability.”
While Stuxnet will generate buzz in the consumer and IT world, not all the patches released this month will apply to everyone. Of the 17 bulletins released for December, organizations will need to look at what they have installed and plan their year-end patching accordingly, commented Wolfgang Kandek, chief technology officer at Qualys.
“Collectively the updates apply to all versions of Windows, Microsoft Office and server software Microsoft Exchange 2007 and Microsoft SharePoint 2007. Only two of the bulletins are critical and both should be high on your priority lists for immediate roll-out,” Kandek said.
“MS10-090 is an update for all versions of Internet Explorer and includes the fix for the vulnerability disclosed in November. The second critical bulletin is MS10-091 and it is located in the OpenType Font driver. The vulnerability can be triggered by simply browsing to a directory that contains the malicious file – no further interaction is required.”
With regard to the Internet Explorer Zero-Day, systems using DEP are shielded, but the patch should be applied anyway. With the OpenType Font driver, Windows XP and Windows 2003 are not impacted. However, the patch should be installed immediately on systems running Vista, Windows 7, and Windows Server 2008.
