This is what google has to say about its google shortening service:

Google URL Shortener at goo.gl is a service that takes long URLs and squeezes them into fewer characters to make a link that is easier to share, tweet, or email to friends. The core goals of this service are:

Stability – ensuring that the service has very good uptime

Security – protecting users from malware and phishing pages

Speed – fast resolution of short URLs

Google URL Shortener is currently available for Google products and not for broader consumer use.

Currently, This service is only available from the Google Toolbar and FeedBurner. Try it for Toolbar andFeedBurner!

Though their is no threat to market share of bit.ly or any other service and Fb.me seems to be rolled out on a limited basis. As Inside Facebook points out, the Facebook URL Shortener is already in use on the mobile interface. Whenever links are shared within a mobile interface (i.e. an m.facebook.com link), it is now automatically shortened using fb.me.

It is also active for Facebook usernames like if URL is Fb.me/taneja.vipul it will take you to my profile page on facebook.

Ever tried having 25 tabs or more open in Chrome? You can’t even see the favicon of the tabs, not to mention the tab titles! With so many tabs open, you can’t even remember what you have open on which tab. TooManyTabs is a must-have chrome extension that manages your tabs, reduces your tab overflow, and saves your sanity!

TooManyTabs has been one of the most popular extensions for Firefox and the makers have now ported it onto Google Chrome. TMT for Chrome comes with these features -

- Birdeye view of all tabs open across all windows
- Preview of each tab (filled up gradually)
- Instant tab search upon opening
- Tab sorting by time, name and URL
- Tab count to warn you of tab overflow
- Allows “suspension” of tabs to a column and “restore” later to reduce overflow of tabs
- Provides a list of Recently Closed Tabs for guiltless tab closing

Click the extension’s toolbar button (or tap control + ~) and the window above appears. Not only does it present thumbnails of all your open tabs, but there’s also a search option and three ways to sort: alphabetically, by tab creation time, and grouped by website. Here is the official demo video

Along with the numerous announcements about the new Bing features revealed this week, the team also launched an updated web browser toolbar called the “Bing Bar.” Designed to replace the older MSN toolbar, this browser add-on built with Silverlight technology works in both Internet Explorer and Firefox.

As with the MSN toolbar, the new Bing Bar features a web search box, except now it’s powered by Bing Search Assist instead of Live.com. This feature provides search suggestions and image suggestions as you type in text. It can also tap into your search history to suggest previous queries you had entered before.

Another very cool feature is the toolbar’s ability to send you breaking news alerts, tailored to your preferences. Using the “Browse Plus” feature, as it’s called, you can configure the toolbar to watch for certain topics – like stock alerts, for example.

The “no-fail cash detector” helps you save money when shopping online by doing comparative searches for the product you’re viewing to see if another merchant has a better price or if you could get a deal via Bing Cashback.

Other buttons provide one-click access to news, video, stocks, and your Hotmail inbox. You can
